The National Maritime Museum marked the 300th anniversary of the Longitude Act with ‘Ships, Clocks and Stars: The Quest for Longitude’.
Inspired by the nautical theme, we aimed to evoke the feel of a rigged sailing ships using unfinished wood, rope from Chatham dockyards, and repurposed antique tables. We collaborated with Hemisferium Antique Scientific Instruments, and used their blueprints to create oversize hanging mobiles of astrolabes and astronomical rings, the large scale showing the intricate beauty of these scientific works of art.
This landmark exhibition celebrated JMW Turner’s lifelong fascination with the sea, bringing together an outstanding collection of masterpieces in the first exhibition dedicated to Turner’s work as a maritime artist.
Turner’s pioneering approach captured the beauty and power of seascapes, depicting the sea's many moods and dramas with extraordinary effects of light and colour; he was known as the painter of light, and this formed the inspiration for the shop design.
The National Portrait Gallery’s retrospective of British photographer David Bailey was one of the blockbuster exhibitions of 2014.
The exhibition shop reflected the timeline of works in the exhibition; all the black and white products were merchandised together alluding to Bailey's work during the 60's, whilst the ranges inspired by his latest works, Skulls and Roses, took over the other end of the store. The iconic images were allowed to speak for themselves, in a simple, clean, clear arrangement.
Exhibeo Visual Merchandising was commissioned to design and implement the new exhibition shop for the British Library: Georgians Revealed.
The shop space was designed to reflect the madness, excess and lavishness of the Georgian era, where conspicuous consumption became the pastime of the emerging middle classes.
In September 2013 Exhibeo Visual Merchandising was commissioned by the National Portrait Gallery to design and develop the visual scheme for the new shop, 39a, and its opening exhibition Elizabeth I and Her People.
The Design needed to be clean and elegant, allowing the light to shine throughout the space as a showcase for the institution's collections and merchandise.
The project involved working very closely with the buying team to gain a full understanding of the ranges and the inspirations behind the product. We wanted to ensure these were transmitted through the product presentation and displays, and the final scheme reflected the rich, opulent atmosphere of Elizabeth’s Royal Court.
